South Wales Pipeline & Easington-Nether Kellet Pipeline
Two new LNG terminals were constructed in Milford Haven, Wales, with which gas is fed from Malaysia, Qatar, Algeria and West Africa into the national grid. In the future, 20% of the gas required by Great Britain will be transported through the 330 km long pipelines that were supplied by EUROPIPE.
The gas from the Ormen Lange field off the coast of Norway reaches Easington in Great Britain via the longest undersea pipeline ever constructed. The pipeline, 240 km long and 48" (1219 mm) in diameter, then runs onshore from Easington to Nether Kellet. This pipeline belonging to National Grid supplies another 20% of British gas consumption.
Both pipelines are made of L555MB grade steel (X80). Thus EUROPIPE has supplied altogether approx. 1100 km of X80 pipe, of which 800 km were laid in Great Britain.
