EUROPIPE to supply 635,000 tons of large-diameter pipe for the new EUGAL pipeline

EUROPIPE GmbH has booked yet another major contract. For the planned  European Gas Pipeline Link (EUGAL), EUROPIPE will deliver 635,000 tons of large-diameter pipe with a diameter of 56" (1,420 mm).

Starting in Lubmin near Greifswald on the Baltic Sea in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the EUGAL gas pipeline will stretch southwards to Deutschneudorf in Saxony and from there on to Czechia, thus passing through the German states of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (c. 100 kilometers), Brandenburg (c. 275 kilometers), and the Free State of Saxony (c. 110 kilometers). Extended sections of its total length of some 485 kilometers are designed as two parallel pipe strings.

The project management agency, the German transmission system operator GASCADE, operates one of the largest natural gas infrastructures in Germany. Even though the new pipeline will only be operational by the end of 2019, extensive plans covering several years – among others for the construction of the EUGAL – are being developed. The results of the current regional planning procedures are scheduled for official approval as from summer 2017.

The pipes for the project will be produced at the Mülheim an der Ruhr location from 2017 to 2019. The starting material for the large-diameter pipe mill will be supplied by EUROPIPE's shareholders. Pipe coating has been contracted to MÜLHEIM PIPECOATINGS GmbH.
