On this day, exactly 40 years ago, on June 21, 1977, the new large-diameter pipe mill of the former Mannesmannröhren Werke AG was formally commissioned after 30 months' construction work in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The investment volume amounted to what was then a repectable DM 430 million. Even then, the production site for longitudinally welded large-diameter pipe ranked among the most advanced and efficient of its kind worldwide. A status which it has maintained to this day, not least thanks to numerous investments in state-of-the-art technology.
