Into the future with Carbonlite® -70: EUROPIPE and OGE visit Peiner Träger
Together with OGE (Open Grid Europe), we visited the electric steelworks of Peiner Träger GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of our shareholder Salzgitter AG.
This is where the CO₂-reduced steel slabs are produced from which the Carbonlite® -70 pipes were manufactured, which we have already used in the Wardenburg – Drohne project. After production in Peine, the slabs were further processed at the Salzgitter Mannesmann Grobblech GmbH rolling mill in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
The OGE delegation was impressed by the possibilities offered by the electric steel route – a key technology for the transformation to more climate-friendly pipeline projects and a sustainable energy infrastructure.
