EUROPIPE, MPC und BKP
at the 38th Oldenburger Pipeline Forum

At the 38th Oldenburg Pipeline Forum (IRO), EUROPIPE and MÜLHEIM PIPECOATINGS GmbH (MPC) presented a 40" pipe section with rough coat and GRP coating at the BKP Berolina Polyester GmbH & Co. KG stand.

Christian Balkenohl, Operations Manager at MPC, together with Lars Quernheim, COO of BKP, presented the advantages of combined coating systems in a well-attended technical lecture entitled.

“Stronger together: How rough polyethylene coatings and glass fiber reinforced plastic coatings are setting new standards in pipe protection.”
The GRP coating made of glass fibers and styrene-free resin offers high abrasion resistance during trenchless pipe pulling and reliably protects the corrosion protection of the steel pipe.

The GRP coating made of glass fibers and styrene-free resin offers high abrasion resistance during trenchless pipe pulling and reliably protects the corrosion protection of the steel pipe. Test series confirm the optimal interlocking of Rough-Coat PE and GRP composite – with shear resistance of over 200 N/cm².

In the forum “Steel pipelines as sustainable solutions for water, gas, and hydrogen,” Dr. Susanne Höhler (Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung GmbH) also presented joint research projects by EUROPIPE, Mannesmann Grossrohr, Mannesmann Line Pipe, and the pipe bending plant for hydrogen transport.
IRO 2026 once again provided an excellent platform for professional exchange with network operators, installers, and research institutions.
