8 Questions for:
Dennis Oehrl
Head of Ordermanagement
"The personal exchange within the team and the feeling of having made a difference – whether it's a new project, a contact or simply a good impulse for the future!"
What are your responsibilities at EUROPIPE:
We ensure that customer orders run smoothly from order placement to delivery. When a customer places an order with us, we accompany the order from A to Z: we check the order, coordinate with sales, production, and logistics, and make sure that everything arrives at the customer's premises on time—including all important documents.
What is special about your workplace?
What I like most about my job is the mix of organization, communication, and creative freedom. I am closely involved in operations, handling specific customer orders from the moment they are placed to the moment they are delivered—and at the same time, I work on projects that help us further develop our processes.
The interface function is also special: I deal with many different departments, which gives me a very good insight into the entire company. No two days are the same – that makes the work varied and exciting.
What do you like about your work at EUROPIPE?
What I appreciate about EUROPIPE is the team spirit. Everyone knows each other, communicates openly, and works together. Communication channels are often short, and if there is a problem somewhere, someone is quickly found to provide support.
What I like about my job is that I see tangible results: when a complex order runs smoothly, the customer is satisfied, and everything fits together internally, it's a real sense of achievement. I also have the opportunity to contribute my own ideas and actively participate in improvements—that's motivating.
What was the deciding factor for you to start working at EUROPIPE?
The decisive factor for me was that I found a job here where I can take on responsibility and work in a team at the same time. The combination of an international environment, exciting technical products, and the opportunity to help shape processes appealed to me immediately.
During the application process, I also got the impression that this company is not just about numbers and orders, but also about the people behind them—and this impression has been confirmed to this day.
How would you describe your typical workday?
My working day usually begins with me taking a look at our open orders:
How is production going, where are there still things to do? Have any queries been received from customers or suppliers?
After that, I spend a lot of time communicating with colleagues from other departments—by phone, Teams, or email. For example, I clarify details with the sales department or obtain information from quality assurance. And in between, I work on various projects to further develop and improve our processes.
“What I appreciate about EUROPIPE is the team spirit. Everyone knows each other, talks openly, and works together toward common goals.”
How would you describe your everyday working life?
I don't just work my way through “my list”; I really have an influence on how well an order goes and how we design our processes. At the same time, I know that I'm not alone. If there's a problem somewhere, I can always talk to colleagues from other departments—we support each other and pull together.
I also like the fact that trust plays a big role: I am given the freedom to drive issues forward independently, prepare decisions, and contribute my own ideas. Being able to play an active role makes my work here particularly valuable to me.
What would you say to someone who wants to apply to EUROPIPE?
For people who like to keep track of things, enjoy coordinating and communicating, and want to improve things rather than just working through a list of tasks. If you enjoy working with different departments, like to think in a structured way, and can still remain flexible, you will quickly feel at home with us.
And finally: what is essential for a really good working day?
For me, there's one thing that's essential for a really good day at work: the feeling that I've made a difference.
For me, that involves three things:
• A project that runs smoothly—good coordination with other departments, no last-minute surprises, and a satisfied customer at the end.
• Good communication with colleagues – a few quick consultations, solving a problem together, and maybe even a light-hearted joke or two.
• A small step forward in the project
If, at the end of the day, I can say, “We really made progress today,” then it was a really good day at work for me.
